It Will Be Alright
I woke up one morning,
The world as I knew it seemed the same,
The sky was blue, the sun still yellow,
The earth turned, birds still sang.
Then from one minute to the next,
The world ceased to make sense to me,
There was cause and no effect,
I stood bewitched by what I did see.
I jumped, but didn't land,
Took a sip, but had nothing to swallow,
I ran, but traveled no distance,
I filled a hole, and it remained hollow.
I clapped, but no sound came,
I lit a flame, and it was cold,
I felt the rain and it was dry,
I gave birth but had no one to hold.
I gave birth but brought no baby home,
I gave birth but have no one to care for,
I am a mother, why am I alone?
I am confused to my very core.
But I know one day noise will make a sound,
And light will once again be bright,
I will be a mother with her child,
The world will once again feel right.
